The DSP-1000 is physically identical to the CC-1000 Caption Display, the difference being the protocol used to drive the display. The DSP-1000 accepts ASCII characters transmitted using the RS-232 serial data standard. A standard 9 pin female connector is provided on the rear panel. RS-232 uses 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity. Baud rate is 9600.
To adjust to different lighting conditions, a rear panel knob is used to adjust display brightness.
